|
| | | | | | | | Agenda Title:
20-042 - 2R. An ordinance authorizing acceptance of the 2020 Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Investigative Support Center Initiative, and related documents, with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, for a grant award in the amount of $143,579.54; making the necessary appropriations; authorizing future change orders for additional funding and/or time extensions; and authorizing certain future appropriations. |
| | | | | | | | Recommendations:
The Police Department recommends approval of this ordinance. |
| | | | | | | | Background:
The Police Department first received funding to participate in the Midwest HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) for a Crime Analyst position in April 2012. In 2019, the department received additional funding to fully fund an additional Crime Analyst. Both Analysts are housed at the HIDTA offices. The department is reimbursed 100% of the Analysts' salary, benefits, and travel. The current contract will continue the department's involvement with the Midwest HIDTA Investigative Support Center (ISC), and provide reimbursement up to $143,579.54. |
| | | | | | | |
Fiscal Impact:
An appropriation of $143,579.54 will need to be made to the Police Department's Operating Budget. No local match is required, and the grant will fully cover the cost of both positions.
The current award amount of $143,579.54 will need to be appropriated to the Police Department's Operating Budget, subledger ISC-G, and should be divided as follows:
4550-5100 (Salaries): $ 96,998.04
4550-5116 (Benefits): $ 44,581.50
4550-5203 (Travel): $ 2,000.00
Total Award: $143,579.54
