The Independence Police Foundation ("Foundation") is a newly created private non-profit organization incorporated in Missouri and operated solely in support of the Independence Police Department and the Foundation's objectives as a 501(c)(3) entity. It is the mission of the Foundation and IPD to sustain a highly successful Police Department to support the public safety and welfare of the Independence community. The Memorandum of Understanding that is being proposed outlines the three core objectives of the Foundation, the legal effect of the MOU, and the responsibilities of both the City and the Foundation. |

Fiscal Impact:
There is no cash outlay associated with this program. However, the MOU commits in-kind services to support the work of the Foundation, such as office space, phone line and email account.
