Executive Summary:

The City of Independence currently has a sanitary sewer line that runs through Little Blue Valley Sewer District’s (LBVSD) property at 21101 E 78 Highway. An easement has not been recorded and LBVSD is requesting a General Utility Easement for the existing sanitary sewer line.
Background:

The Little Blue Valley Sewer District (LBVSD) owns the property at 21101 E 78 Highway. The property was the site of the LBVSD’s Interim Treatment Plant until the Atherton Wastewater Treatment Plant was completed. After the interim plant was decommissioned, the site was the home of the LBVSD’s Administration Building. The site includes a portion of the LBVSD interceptor sewer and a portion of the City’s sanitary sewer. None of these sewer lines originally had easements because they were on property owned by the District. LBVSD is requesting the easement to prepare for the possible sale of their property.

There is no fiscal impact to the City.
