20-057 - 1R. An ordinance authorizing and directing the City Manager to execute a certain contract for sale of real estate in exchange for payment of $1,500 for land designated as City Surplus Property at 11323 East 15th Street South and to do all the things necessary to consummate said sale.
Staff recommends the approval of an Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to accept the offer of $1,500.00 for surplus property at 11323 E 15th Street S and execute a contract for the sale of said property.
The property at 11323 E 15th Street S has been declared surplus property with no further municipal use. The property was advertised three time over the course of five years and no bids were received. Staff reached out to the adjacent property owner to purchase the property.
The property at 11323 E 15th Street S was declared surplus on February 17, 2015 by Ordinance No. 18418 after being reviewed by Independence Power and Light and other departments, determining that said property had no further municipal use. The sale was advertised in February 2015 with a minimum bid price of $4,500 and no bids were received. Since no bids were received, the minimum bid price was lowered to $1,500 by Ordinance No. 18448 and the sale was advertised in June 2015 and again in May 2020. Because no bids were received, staff reached out to the adjacent property owner to gain interest in purchasing the property and came to a mutual agreement with Greater KC Properties, LLC of a sale price of $1,500, which was the minimum established bid price in the June 2015 and May 2020 bid advertisement.
The fiscal impact to the City is $1,500. The revenue will be deposited into account 3431 in fund 020.
