Council action is requested to issue a purchase order for $79,597.00 to Kranz of Kansas City, for a Reading Service Body with power pack for the Water Division of the Municipal Services Department.

The Water Construction Division of Municipal Services is replacing the service body on truck asset 4404. This body was originally on a 1999 chassis & was moved to a new 2016 chassis IHC truck in 2017. This service body is now severely rusted as well as the Power Take Off (PTO) compressor unit is out and parts are no longer available to repair it. This unit is a vital component for this service truck in performing water main repair breaks. This was budgeted for in the current fiscal year under the Water Transmission & Distribution Division.

The Procurement Division issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) #23069 on August 14, 2023. The ITB was publicly available using the website of Public Purchase, which is the website the city uses for soliciting bids and proposals. Fifty-seven (57) firms were notified and five (5) downloaded the bid. The bid closed on September 8, 2023, with two firms, American Equipment Co. and Kranz of Kansas City submitting bids. After evaluation of bids, Kranz is recommended to be awarded the bid based on being the low bidder meeting the specifications of the request.

Approval of these item authorizes the Finance Director to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, so long as appropriations are available.

The fiscal impact to the City is $79,597.00. Funding for the Reading Service Body with power pack is included in the fiscal year 2023-20234 proposed budget, page 254, account number (4840-5404), Mobile Equipment in the Municipal Services Water Fund.
