History of any liquor license at this location; if a new building provides a brief update on the construction: Aldi Inc. is constructing a new 20,442 square foot grocery store to serve the residents of western Independence. This new location will replace an older smaller Aldi store located at 11605 E. 23rd Street. This full service grocery store also redevelops a problem property along a very visible corridor of the City. The business operation of the grocery store will remain the same, including the sale of retail intoxicating liquor.
Location proximity to residential, park, school and church: There are no hospitals, churches, schools or park property; however there is residentially zoned properties within 300 feet of the proposed premises according to the City’s mapping system.
Managing Officer Information and results from background check: Aldi Inc. (Kansas) is a corporation and has appointed Mr. Brent Ravenscraft as Managing Officer. This is the same as the current location. Mr. Ravenscraft is also the Managing Officer of the Aldi store located at 16007 E. 23rd St. The background investigation conducted by the Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Mr. Ravenscraft revealed he meets the requirements of the Alcoholic Beverages code.
The applicant has submitted a signed affidavit indicating that this location will have alcohol sales that meet the City’s Alcoholic Beverage Code for this license type. Applicable City Departments reviewed the application.
