| | | | | | | | Executive Summary:
The National Park Service is requesting that the City of Independence vacate a portion of a platted alley that bisects property the City intends to donate to the United States of America for the construction of a new facility for the Harry S Truman National Historic Site. |
| | | | | | | | Background:
The National Park Service (NPS) is requesting that the City of Independence vacate a portion of a platted alley that bisects property the City intends to donate to the United States of America for the construction of a new facility for the Harry S Truman National Historic Site (NHS). The federal legislation that authorized a boundary revision to add certain lots to the NHS neglected to also add the subject alley to the NHS. Having the City vacate a portion of the alley would cause it to become part of the abutting lots and thereby preclude the NPS from taking approximately a year to revise the park boundary by adding the alley to the NHS. |
| | | | | | | |
Fiscal Impact:
There is no fiscal impact to the City.
