The City of Independence Water Department has been selling water to the City of Lee’s Summit and the City of Lee’s Summit has been receiving water under a Contract for the Supply of water from the City of Independence, Missouri dated January 4, 2001. The City of Lee’s Summit had requested that the contract be extended. There was a minor change to update a mailing address but no changes to the contract language. Both cities have reached an agreement on the attached new contract. The City of Lee’s Summit City Council approved the contract on November 17th, 2020. This agreement is scheduled to be presented at the December PUAB meeting. |

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the water fund is estimated to be $5,500,000 from this agreement. The revenue is recorded in account numbers 040-4552 in the amount of $1,700,000 and 040-4556 in the amount of $3,800,000 on page 188 of the 2021/2022 budget.
