Consider Ordinance |
| | | | | | | | Executive Summary:
This property was assessed tax assessments due to lawn maintenance performed at this property during a period when the property owner was dealing with pancreatic cancer. The property owner has stated that he never received any notices advising of him of this situation. City Code 4.010 allows a property owner to request a hearing to appeal such matters within 30 days. Due to Mr. Olivarez’s claims of not receiving such notices, he states he was not able to respond by the deadline.
Due to Mr. Olivarez’s claims of not receiving the legally required notices, a request for a one-time forgiveness of these assessments is being made.
|
| | | | | | | | Emergency Justification:
The taxes to Jackson County are delinquent after December 31, 2020. Current property owner is in the process of selling the property and the title company needs an updated tax bill from Jackson County to proceed with the sale of the property. |
| | | | | | | |
Fiscal Impact:
Approval will reduce the Special Assessments in the General Fund by approximately $2,800.
