Council Action is requested to approve amending the CARES ACT Budget.
Recommendations:

Staff recommends approval to reallocate CARES grant expenditure categories and submit amendment to Jackson County  
Executive Summary:

The CARES grant funds are limited to those expenditures that can be spent by 12/31/2020. There are categories within the current CARES grant budget that the City may be unable to spend by the deadline.

 

The City continues to spend unanticipated funds to minimize the impact to our citizens through the pandemic. The proposed budget amendment reallocates spent funds to CARES budget areas that have been incurred or reasonably estimated to be spent by 12/31/2020. 

Background:

The City applied for and entered into a CARES grant funding agreement with Jackson County on August 3, 2020 for $6,900,000. On October 19 the Governing Body increased the grant budget by $53,474 for technology enhancements for improvements to public meeting broadcast needs.

 

This Amendment reallocates funds to prioritize those areas where the City has no other grant opportunities to be reimbursed for certain expenditures. 


Fiscal Impact:

Reallocating the CARES grant budget will allow the City to utilize the full amount of the CARES grant funds per the agreement with the County.
