21-015 - 2R.  An ordinance amending Chapter 8 Article 6 “Purchases and Sales” Section 2, Section 3, Section 4, and Section 6. And directing City Staff to amend the Procurement Policy accordingly. -Requested by Councilmember Brice Stewart
Background:

The last revision to these sections of the Independence City Code occurred in May 2019.

 

This ordinance will make revisions to Chapter 8 of the City Code.  The revisions will adjust City Council approval thresholds as well as makes revisions to the approval process for all professional service contracts as they pertain to City Council approval.  

 

The City enters into approximately 300 "professional Services" contracts each year. Staff estimates that the this policy change will impact up to 225 of those contracts. This will add an average of 18 additional council items per month for consideration.
