Staff is requesting approval for the replacement of units #5080 and #5081, tracked mini-digger derricks. This is a fleet replacement of existing tracked mini-digger derricks.
The vehicles are assigned to the Transmission & Distribution Service department for constructing and maintaining the electric utility’s infrastructure located in backyards and other areas where larger trucks are unable to access. It is recommended to upgrade our current units from 37’ working limits to 41’ working limit for more accessibility of higher electrical lines and equipment. Maintenance cost incurred over the past year total $16,445.08 (5080) and $10,869.81 (5081) with a past 6 year maintenance cost of $43,714.35 (5080) and $42,423.40 (5081). Vehicle hours are 2,185 (5080) and 2,339 (5081). Vehicle replacement is recommended at 3,000 hours but with excessive repair costs and downtime it is recommended to replace early.
The purchase order, if approved, will be issued against the Sourcewell Contract #012418-ALT Cooperative bid agreement. The cooperative purchasing provisions of paragraph 5 of the Independence City Code allows for the purchase of items competitively bid by other governmental entities.
Approval of this item authorizes the Finance Director to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, providing that appropriations are available.
