1. Council action is requested on the application received from S.M. Trading Corporation, doing business as Fuel Express #41, for a Retail Selling of Intoxicating Liquor of all kinds in the original package license for their location currently under construction at 4200 S. Lee’s Summit Road.

This application meets the requirements of the City’s Alcoholic Beverage Code. 

The applicant is requesting City Council approval to sell intoxicating liquor in the original package.  The applicant has also applied for a Sunday Sales license to be administratively approved should this application be approved by City Council.  This convenience store with gas is currently under construction at 4200 S. Lee’s Summit Road just south of Cracker Barrel and the owner proposes to operate on a 24-hour basis.  The applicant has submitted a signed affidavit indicating that this location will have alcohol sales that meet the City’s Alcoholic Beverage Code.

According to their application, Mukesh and Sangeeta Goel are the sole stockholders of S.M. Trading Corporation who will purchase the convenience store currently under construction in mid-April 2021.   S.M. Trading Corporation operates 20 locations in the Greater Kansas City Metro.  The particular store will also operate within approximately 3,350 square feet of space. 

There is no history of any prior liquor license at this location as the convenience store in under construction.

The applicant has appointed Jeannette Cambron as Managing Officer for purposes of this liquor license.  The background investigation conducted by the Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Ms. Cambron revealed she meets the requirements of the Alcoholic Beverages code.

Applicable City Departments reviewed the application, and the attached Inspection Report includes their comments.
