The Tourism Division, of the Parks/Recreation/Tourism Department, has been provided an opportunity to participate in the Missouri Department of Tourism “2021 Spring Digital Campaign” for the Supporting DMO (Direct Marketing Organization) Marketing Grant Program. This grant will provide for the reimbursement of qualified advertising and marketing expenses up to $75,000.
The City received notification regarding this one-time grant opportunity in early April. These grant funds were made available after another Missouri DMO was unable to utilize their portion of grant funding, after the start of the grant period on March 1, 2021.
In order to participate in the grant opportunity, all contract documents must be submitted to the State of Missouri Department of Tourism by April 30, 2021. The Department of Tourism contract number is 21-045-30-093001. The contract period will end on June 30, 2021.
Council approval of this consent agenda item will provide for the opportunity for reimbursement of qualified marketing expenses for the City of Independence. There are no local matching funds required for this grant.

Fiscal Impact:
There are no local matching funds required for this grant. The Park/Recreation/Tourism budget will be increased by $75,000 for this grant on the next quarterly supplemental budget appropriation presented by the Finance and Administration Department.
