Agenda Title:

National Parks Service (NPS) Trails Strategy Concept Plan grant provides funding to purchase and install new signs along the NPS Trails Retracement corridor.  This pilot project will fund various directional/informational and interpretative signs.
Executive Summary:

The National Parks Service (NPS) provided a grant totaling $15,000 as a pilot project to purchase and install new signs as part of the NPS trails retracement project.
Background:

As part of the NPS initiative to retrace the national historic trails in the Kansas City metro area, the NPS developed a pilot project to help start adding signage, including interpretative signs to the historic trails in the City.  Funding will pay for the installation of various informational/directional signs, identifying where the trail runs and interpretative signage to highlight the City's impact with the national historic trails.


Fiscal Impact:

The fiscal impact to the City is up to $15,000.00.  Expense for the National Historic Trails Retracement pilot project will be paid from an NPS grant covered through their grant program and administered by the Mid-America Regional Council.
