On May 20, 2021, the Independence City Council and Public Utilities Advisory Board met in a joint session to solidify the strategic priorities for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022. Following a presentation from City staff on the strategic priority setting activities to date, the City Council and PUAB reviewed their key priorities and developed mutually agreeable language to capture these sentiments. It was moved and seconded to accept these strategic priorities for Fiscal Year 2021-22:
- Customer Service
- Financial Sustainability
- Power Production
- Economic Development
Following a roll call vote of the PUAB members, the Chairman declared the motion unanimously approved. It recommended that this plan be forwarded to the City Council for final approval and that regular updates on the progress toward meeting these strategic priorities be presented to the PUAB.
