Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to WesTech Engineering Inc, in the amount of $72,570.00 for drive equipment for Contact Basin #5 for the Courtney Bend Water Plant for the Water Department.

This requisition request is for a purchase order to be issued to WesTech Engineering, LLC (“WesTech”) to provide and install a refurbished WesTech DS43 Dual Shaft Drive for Contact Basin No. 5 at the Courtney Bend Water Plant. The existing Drive on this basin is showing signs of wear and is requiring replacement.  The replacement drive to be supplied by WesTech, who is the original equipment manufacturer, is a direct replacement for the existing drive. WesTech is the only available source for the direct replacement assembly. 

Contact Basin No. 5 is one of eight basins which provide the softening capacity for the drinking water produced by the Courtney Bend Water Plant.  In order to ensure this basin continues to operate in an efficient and reliable manner, this drive needs to be replaced.

Fiscal Impact. The fiscal impact to the City is $72,570.00. Funding is included in the fiscal year 2021/22 adopted budget, Project string E (421248-W) account number E (4830-5212).
