21-048 - 1R. An ordinance authorizing acceptance of a grant in the amount of $296,300.00 from the Missouri Department of Transportation for reimbursement of overtime for the Police Department for a Crash Investigation Software License, LETSAC Conference Fees and Hazardous Moving Violations Enforcement from October 1, 2021, to September 30, 2022; authorizing future change orders, extensions, amendments or addendums for additional funding for the same project and making the necessary appropriations.
The Police Department recommends acceptance of this ordinance.
The Missouri Department of Transportation, Highway Safety Division will fund enforcement activities for education and enforcement projects related to traffic problems along with the purchase of a Crash Investigation Software License to be used for crash investigation, and LETSAC conference fees. This contract (Project #22-PT-02-090) of $296,300.00 will fund Hazardous Moving Violation projects during the time period of October 1, 2021 and September 30, 2022. The police department will be required to conduct enforcement targeting offenders committing hazardous moving violations (speeding, following too close, improper lane use and failing to yield the right of way). The officers will be assigned to specific high accident locations to conduct this enforcement and will also participate in enforcement on red light running, I-70 aggressive driving, as well as the Union Pacific Police Department in Operation Lifesaver, which targets violators who fail to stop for railroad crossing gates.
The Fiscal impact to the City is $296,300.00. The Revenue will be deposited in account 4550-5102 in the HMV-G (Hazardous Moving Violation Grant) Fund.
