City of Independence AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET Approved Agenda Title: Council action is requested to amend the open records fees contained in the Schedule of Fees. Executive Summary: Fees and the process on how they are assessed for open records requests are outlined in Chapter 610, RSMo.  Summarizations of what charges are allowed and how they are assessed are outlined in the Missouri Sunshine Law.  The proposed fees most closely align with the spirit of the Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, RSMo. and existing administrative salaries. Background: Existing fees have not been consistently reviewed and updated, and will be reviewed on an annual basis moving forward.  New fees will be effective immediately, and implemented into the Schedule of Fees document during the next annual update. Fiscal Impact: Staff estimates the fiscal impact from this change would be a loss of $14,000 to the general fund revenues.
