Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Shawnee Mission Ford, for the $ 73,548.00 purchase of (2) Ford F-150 Police Responders for the Police Department.

Council action to issue a purchase order.

The two Ford F-150 Police Responders are being purchased to replace two vehicles currently assigned to the Street Crimes Unit. One current vehicle has been wrecked beyond repair and another is being removed from front-line service due to vehicle mileage. The new F-150 platform is a better fit for the role that Street Crimes is performing based on their daily operations and equipment they carry/use.

The vendor providing the equipment is Shawnee Mission Ford, who provided a quote based on a Mid-America Council of Public Procurement (MACPP) cooperative contract. Purchases under cooperative agreements are authorized by Section 8.06.004, Paragraph 5, of the Independence City Code, which states that when cooperative bids or contracts are used, they will first have been established pursuant to generally accepted governmental purchasing practices and the competitive bidding process.

The fiscal impact to the City is $73,548.00. Funding is included in the fiscal year 2021/22 adopted budget, budget book page 156, account numbers E (4564-5404).
