Agenda Title:

City Council action is requested directing the City Manager to proceed with all work necessary to provide a "Fire Line" to the Englewood Arts building. Postponed from 11/1
Recommendations:

City Council authorization is needed to proceed with the project. Authorization would waive the "Jobbing Fee" associated with this work.  
Executive Summary:

In October of 2019, the City Council authorized the sale of the former CMH Building (10901 East Winner Road) to Englewood Arts, a Missouri Nonprofit Corporation. A copy of that agreement is included in this packet.  Since that time, Englewood Arts has undergone a capital campaign and started renovations on the structure. 

 

As part of the project, a "fire line" is needed that connects the city's water main to the building's fire sprinkler system. Englewood Arts is requesting the City perform this work on behalf of Englewood Arts and waive the "Jobbing Fee". The attached letter further details the scope of work and contract for this project. Property owners or the party responsible for the utility bill is also required to enter into an Agreement for Private Fire Protection (attached) as a condition of the work.

Fiscal Impact:

Fiscal impact is estimated to be $20,000 and would be paid from the Water Fund, Distribution System Improvements CIP is Project No. 401505 (Fund 040, G/L 7040-5406, Project 401505-C).
