Agenda Title:

22-704 - A resolution authorizing an agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Bargaining Unit, Local Union 53, for the term of January 16, 2022, through October 31, 2024.
Recommendations:

Staff recommends approval of the agreement in substantially the same form as presented. 
Executive Summary:

Staff and members of the IBEW-IPL bargaining committee have been meeting for several months to negotiate a work agreement. Features of the new agreement include:

  • Term of three years
  • 2.5% wage increases each of the three years
  • Targeted pay adjustments for specific positions due to market and/or job duties
  • New sick leave program which includes an annual contribution to 401a in place of sick leave payouts upon separation from the City. 
  • Execution of the agrement will also implement a two-year retention program for those classifications requiring a Journeyman Lineman designation. The program provides for a $4,000 payment every six months of employment through November 2023.  


Fiscal Impact:

Total estimated fiscal impact of the agreement is $50M representing an increase of $1.86M over the term of the agreement (including the Linemen Retention Payments). 

 

Funds are budgeted in Fund 020, Power and Light for the current Fiscal Year, and will be budgeted in future years.
