| | | | | | | | Background:
The Police Department entered into an agreement with the US Marshals Service (USMS) in 2011 to participate in the USMS Violent Offender Task Force. The Task Force consists of federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities for the purpose of apprehending fugitives, to improve public safety, and reduce violent crime. As part of this mission, the US Marshals administers funds through the Joint Law Enforcement Operations (JLEO) program, which is funded through revenue deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund. The USMS reimburses agencies like the Independence Police Department for overtime costs associated with their participation in this Task Force. This Obligation Document will provide for reimbursement of overtime expenses up to $175,000 during the time period of October 12, 2021 to September 30, 2022. |

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City is $175,000. The revenue will be deposited in account 4550-5102-USM in the Grant Fund 015.
The cost of benefits associated with any overtime worked will not be reimbursed and will be covered by the benefit line items in each officer's home cost center/Org.
