On July 6, 2021, the City Council approved the 2021-22 Annual Action Plan for the CDBG Program Year 47 and HOME Program Year 27 for activities, projects and programs that benefit the low- to moderate-income citizens of Independence.
The City received program income from prior year HOME activities and is required by HUD to reallocate those funds prior to the subsequent year’s grant allocation. The amount of the HOME program income received by the City is $18,034.80. These funds will be allocated for the acquisition, rehab or construction of low- to moderate-income single-family homes by our Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) partners thus, increasing the amount in that line item from $325,730 to $343,764.80. All other activities, projects and funding of the 2021-22 Annual Action Plan remain the same.
