Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Molle Chevrolet, for $76,751.64 for the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet 5500 with a Dump Bed for the Parks Department.

The Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is in need of purchasing an additional heavy-duty truck for right-of-way mowing operations and park maintenance activities. When right-of-way mowing was transferred from Municipal Services last summer, Parks received two trailers to haul mowing equipment but only one truck for pulling trailers. Park Maintenance doesn’t currently have a spare truck large enough to pull the second trailer, so an additional heavy-duty truck needs to be purchased. This truck will be used to pull trailers with mowers to mowing sites and for park maintenance work including brush removal and hauling dirt and rock to park sites.

The dealer providing the truck is Molle Chevrolet, who provided a quote based on a Mid-America Council of Public Procurement (MACPP) cooperative contract.

Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220 or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process.

Approval of this item authorizes the Finance and Administration Director to issue change orders up to ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, providing appropriations are available.

The fiscal impact to the City is $76,751.64. Funding is included in the 2021/2022 adopted budget page 119, project account E (9971-C--), account number E (7012-5406).
