The Police Department needs to equip 12 new police vehicles with mobile data terminals (MDT’s). Broadcast Microwave Systems (BMS), the selected vendor, is the single source provider in that this is a proprietary system that is already in use in all the patrol vehicles. The department needs to remain consistent with the computers already in use to have a standardized equipment setup in each vehicle. This is important not only for vehicle equipment installs but also for officer training and usage.
USE tax funds will be used for the 12 systems at a total cost of $87,418.44.
Approval of this item authorizes the Finance and Administration Director to issue change orders up to ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, providing appropriations are available.

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City is $87,418.44. Funding is from USE tax funds, account number E (4571-5402). This request was included in the second quarter supplemental appropriation ordinance which went to Council 3/7 which included appropriations for the Use Tax fund. Those appropriations are covering this purchase.
