22-730 - A resolution encouraging the City Manager to include funding in the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Submitted Budget for the addition of body cameras for the Independence Police Department in anticipation of receiving federal grant funds to implement a body worn camera program.  Requested by Councilmember Brice Stewart

Fiscal Impact:

Preliminary findings from the Police Department  indicate this would cost over $1 million dollars to implement and additional staff members to maintain system and process public requests. Staff will be working with GrantScribe to submit an application to be awarded Federal grant funds to absorb some of the cost.
