Agenda Title:

22-805 - A Resolution amending the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual of the City of Independence, Missouri regarding overtime policies.
Executive Summary:

Staff presented to the Personnel Board recommended changes to Article V. and Article VI. of the Personnel Policies and Procedures that more closely align with FLSA regulations and will assist in reducing the City’s overtime obligation. The proposed updated policy reflects the work of the staff, Personnel Board, and feedback from the Public Meeting.  The final recommendation allow the city to pay overtime on only hours worked, to include city observed holidays.

Previous Activity:

The Personnel Board held a public hearing on proposed changes on July 14, 2022.

 

The Personnel Board unanimously recommended approval of the proposed changes at its August 12, 2022 meeting.

 

The City Council approved Resolution 6811 on June 6, 2022 directing the City Manager to pursue immediate changes to the City's overtime policies and practices.
