At the June 21st City Council retreat, part of the Council's discussion focused on Council rules and procedures. It was acknowledged that while there are adopted policies and procedures for City staff, there is nothing binding the City Council to these same rules and procedures. This is seen as problematic, given the fact the City Council is exposed to many of the same risks as City staff, including sexual harassments, harassments, workplace violence, cyber security, and use of vehicles for City business, to name but a few.
If approved, this resolution would bind the City Council to the previously adopted Personnel Policies and Procedures, along with the Administrative Policies, that are relevant to the City Council. Any alleged violations of these policies and procedures would be summarized in a written report by the Chief Human Resources Officer and presented to the Personnel Board for review and recommended course of action.
Amended during the 9/19 City Council Meeting.
