|
| | | | | | | | Agenda Title:
22-088 - 2R. An ordinance vacating an existing water main easement of all that part of 505 N. Dodgion Avenue lying in, on, and across Lot 7 (except the south 9 feet), of Hockensmith Land, a subdivision in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. |
| | | | | | | | Recommendations:
Council approval is recommended. |
| | | | | | | | Background:
The Water Department seeks to have a ten (10) foot wide water easement vacated. This easement lays across land located between N. Dodgion Ave. and N. Hocker Ave., north of E. Truman Rd. This easement was used for a 4” cast iron water main which was installed in 1899. This 4” water main connected to a 6” water main along N. Dodgion St. and a 4” water main along N. Hocker Ave.
This 4” water main was disconnected by the Independence Water Dept. during this past July, 2022. The former water taps to the “Young School” building (501 N. Dodgion St.), which came off of this 4” water main, have been relocated to new tap & services onto the 6” water main along S. Dodgion St. No properties along N. Hocker Ave. had, or currently have, any water connections onto this disconnected 4” water main.
A short section at the westerly end of the 4” water main was designated as a service line connection for the “Truman Habitat For Humanity Community Gardens” yard hydrants. No easement is required for this section of now private service line.
