The Water Department is in need of a new backhoe loader. This new backhoe loader will replace the 2015 CAT 430F backhoe currently owned, which is used to excavate water mains, hydrants, valves and other items in our water distribution system for repair, replacement and for the installation of new assets. The new backhoe will provide us with a more reliable machine, fewer repairs, and lower maintenance costs. The net purchase price for the new backhoe loader is itemized as follows:
- Sales Price: $179,312.00
- Trade Allowance: ($44,000.00)
- Sourcewell Discount: ($39,449.00)
- Customer Loyalty Discount: ($12,850.00)
- Freight: $500.00
- PDI/Make Ready: $1,332.00
- Net Purchase Price: $84,845.00
The suggested vendor is Foley Equipment Company. Foley Equipment Company is an area vendor the city has used previously and has good experiences with. The proposed purchase would be made utilizing the Sourcewell cooperative agreement. Purchases under cooperative agreements are authorized by Section 8.06.004, Paragraph 5, of the Independence City Code, which states that when cooperative bids or contracts are used, they will first have been established pursuant to generally accepted governmental purchasing practices and the competitive bidding process. |

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City would be $84,845.00. Funding is included in the fiscal year 2022/23 adopted budget.
