Council action is requested to authorize the City Manager to approve a construction contract with Terry Snelling Construction Inc. for an amount not to exceed $476,000 authorizing future minor change orders not to exceed $47,600 and/or time extensions for Vaile Sidewalk Improvements Phase 1 Project (No. 111812).

Terry Snelling Construction, Inc. has successfully completed other construction contracts for the city. Their bid is being recommended for approval of this contract.

 
Background:

The Vaile Sidewalk Improvements Phase 1 Project (No. 111812) will install new and replacement ADA-compliant sidewalks and curb ramps along the roadways surrounding the historic Vaile Mansion property. This project will improve pedestrian access to and mobility around the Vaile Mansion, especially during large events such as the Strawberry Festival, which generates heavy pedestrian traffic.

 

This project has received a Community Development Block Grant totaling $329,746.

 

Fiscal Impact:

The fiscal impact to the City is $523,600. The Vaile Sidewalks Ph. 1 Project (No. 111812) is funded through the Sidewalks to City Parks Project (No. 110807) and is included in the FY 18 adopted budget, page 286, account number 7011-5406. This project will be reimbursed by CDBG funding in the amount of $329,726.
