| | | | | | | | Background:
Council previously appropriated the sum of Three Hundred Sixty Thousand Dollars ($360,000) to re-chassis the rescues. Further, Council appropriated the sum of Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000) to purchase a new Ford F250 truck. Staff has been advised that the order platform for the purchase of the chassis and additional truck opens on November 7, 2022 and closes on November 10, 2022. Pricing has not yet been released and staff is requesting a purchase order to Shawnee Mission Ford for the purchase of the three (3) F550 chassis and one (1) new Ford F250 truck for a total sum not exceeding Two Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($280,000), which is less than previously budgeted for these purchases.
The purchase order, if approved, will be issued against the Metro Vehicle Bid Contract #2019-319-19 procured by Clay County, which is a cooperative bid agreement available for use by all Mid America Council of Public Procurement (MACPP) entities and affiliates. The cooperative purchasing provisions of paragraph 5 of the Independence City Code allows for the purchase of items competitively bid by other governmental entities.
Approval of this item authorizes the Finance Director to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, so long as appropriations are available.

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City for these purchases is $280,000. Funding for these purchases was included in the fiscal year 2022-23 adopted budget, account number 4671-5404.
