Background:
In 2021 CT H5 developed a fault in the generator windings. The unit was inspected on site by representative of General Electric (GE). Eventually, the unit was shipped to a GE facility for repairs. Following repair of the generator, GE assisted IPL staff in reassembly of the unit and initial startup testing. The unit now has a vibration in the turbine end which prevents the unit from operating at the continuous full speed condition. GE representative again worked closely with IPL staff to identify the source of the vibration and a course of corrective action. That effort has been unsuccessful, the next step is to disassemble the turbine for a detailed investigation. |
