Council action to award a purchase order to MegaKC Corporation for the safety repairs at Rock Creek Pump Station and Sugar Creek Pump Station Capital Improvement Project for $191,950.00 for the Sewer Maintenance Division of the Municipal Services Department.

Staff recommends issuing a purchase order to MegaKC Corporation for this service.

The Sewer Maintenance Division/Rock Creek Pump Station and Sugar Creek Pump Station are in need for a contractor to provide removal of an old concrete staircase and replace it with an aluminum staircase at Rock Creek Pump Station. The concrete staircase has multiple structural problems and has become a safety issue. In addition, repairs will be made to the concrete that supports the handrails at Rock Creek Pump Station and Sugar Creek Pump Station. Due to water intrusion and then freezing the concrete structure that supports the handrails has been compromised.
The project was solicited on the e-procurement website, Public Purchase, that the city uses for solicitations. Request for Proposal #22076 closed on September 29th, 2022, with 34 firms being notified and 10 firms downloaded the invitation to bid. The evaluation criteria for this project was Expertise of personnel, Applicable resources, Responses to requirements section and project narrative, Price and Attendance to the Pre-Proposal Conference.

MegaKC Corporation was the only contractor who replied to the RFP. After review of their proposal and experience with the City it was determined they would capable of completing this project.

The fiscal impact to the City is $191,950.00 – After Council approval Funds available in Municipal Services’ Capital Improvement Budget – Project 302206, page 238 of adopted 2021-22 budget.
