Agenda Title:

23-004 - 1R.  An ordinance authorizing the increase of expenditures for salaries for lifeguards at the Adventure Oasis Water Complex for $58,434.00 and making the necessary appropriations.
Recommendations:

Council approval is recommended to issue a change order on PO 23000119, to Modern Pool Management Corporation for the Parks, Recreation, Tourism Department, increasing the amount of the Purchase Order from $539,118 to $597,552.
Background:

On December 02, 2019, Council approved for a contract between Modern Pool Management Corporation and the City. The lifeguards’ salaries are included in the contract amount. Due to staffing shortages during the 2022 summer season, the waterpark had to shorten hours. In efforts to attract lifeguards and to be competitive with area pools, an increase in the lifeguards’ pay is needed.


Fiscal Impact:

The additional fiscal impact to the City is $258,800, over the remaining two summers of the contract (2023 and 2024 seasons). For the rest of the 2023 fiscal year (April through June 2023), the department requests an increase to the PO by $58,434, for a new total of $597,552. For FY23, the Department requests that the $58,434 be transferred from capital outlay funding, 7012-5406, project 1211802-C, and transferred to 6045-5226. FY24 and FY25 budgets will be budgeted at the new amounts when the budgets are prepared.
