Council action to issue Change Order to Purchase Order 22000976 to Worldwide Industries Corporation in the amount of $617,677 to cover additional expenses to the steel structure of the 39th Street Reservoir for the Water Department. New revised amount of PO will be $1,715,669.00.

Staff recommends approval to issue the Change Order.

The change order is required for additional repairs to the steel structure of the 39th Street Reservoir. Those repairs were determined necessary during the course of the renovation project being performed by Worldwide Industries. Change order costs include structural steel, protective coating application, and the necessary equipment and workmanship.

The original project was for performance of work required for necessary improvements, repairs, and maintenance to the Water Department’s 39th Street Reservoir. Work to be performed includes replacement of the structure’s protective coating system, minor repairs to the steel structure, and miscellaneous improvements. Replacement of the structure’s protective coating system is necessary due to the existing coating reaching the end of its effective service life. Executing this work shall help ensure the sustainable operation of the 39th Street Reservoir for the foreseeable future. The 39th Street Reservoir is one of three potable water storage reservoirs operated and maintained by the Water Department. These storage reservoirs augment the supply of potable water produced by the Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant during times of peak usage and in emergency situations. The 39th Street Reservoir is a critical component of the Water Department’s operations.

Approval of this item shall authorize change orders up to an additional ten percent of the new total amount of the purchase order, provided appropriations are available.

 The fiscal impact to the City is $1,715,669.00. Funding was included in the 2021/2022 adopted budget, Project E (402002 -C - - ) 39th Street Reservoir, account E (7040-5406) Other Improvements.
