| | | | | | | | Executive Summary:
Ford Motor Company cancelled the trucks for three PO’s that had been placed through Olathe Ford for the 2022 model year. These trucks did not make the model year’s production date. Olathe Ford had several dealer inventory units that the department was able to procure to replace one of these and meet the need of two new purchases for the current fiscal year.
Municipal Services had located a chassis that fit the specification need of this truck and service body. Due to the current market conditions, trucks are sold before they even hit the dealers lots. Municipal Services issued a requisition to purchase F-450 with a Knapheide service body and a purchase order was issued to Max Ford LLC (dba as Max Motors) on February 6, 2023. It was likely if Municipal Services hadn’t procured the one from Max Motors immediately, it would have been hard to find another one or have to wait to reorder after mid-year when the order bank opens again. Which in this case would have meant that at least another calendar year would have gone by before receiving this truck in for use.

The supply chain issues continue to cause significant hardship on procurement of many items, including vehicles. The availability of inventory in stock as well as to be ordered is extremely limited. |

The fiscal impact to the City is $54,578.00. Funding was included in the fiscal year 2021/2022 adopted budget, for 5215-5404, project string E (396107 -S - -) Mobile Equipment Purchases.
