City staff asks for direction and clarification on the meetings the Council wishes to see broadcast or streamed live, recorded, and archived for the public. The proposed resolution helps ensure boards, commissions, and committees have the ability to meet in a space that meets AV requirements and addresses current overlapping requirements limiting the ability of some groups to meet. |

The City of Independence utilizes a variety of boards, commissions, and committees filled by community volunteers to provide insight and oversight on a variety of important topics. These volunteers are asked to give their time monthly, quarterly, or annually to participate in these meetings. To ensure a quorum is available and the board, commission, or committee is meeting requirements set out in the Charter or resolution as associated with their work it is vital these meetings occur on a consistent date and time for planning purposes. Recent changes and additions to these boards, commissions, and committees have made the scheduling of these meetings challenging. These challenges include overlapping meetings requiring live broadcast and limited space available with AV equipment to support this requirement.
