Background:
The Police Department continues to participate in the public safety initiative sponsored by the Missouri's Highway Safety Division within MoDOT. In the past, the grant program has provided funding to conduct public safety programs which include: DWI Enforcement (Wolf Packs), Hazardous Moving Violation, Red Light Running, Youth Alcohol, Aggressive Driving on I-70 and Occupant Protection Enforcement.
The proactive enforcement and educational initiatives have demonstrated their effectiveness in reducing the violations and the serious consequences associated with this destructive behavior. This year, the Police Department is submitting grant applications for all the programs listed above.
This request is for "Hazardous Moving Violation" (Red Light Running, I-70 Aggressive Driving, HMV High Crash Roadways, Topcon Crash Investigation Software License, Bosch CDR 900 Upgrade Kit, an enclosed Cargo Trailer and LETSAC Training) with a request of $508,419.00. The grant period will be from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024. |
