Executive Summary:
In the fall of 2022, the Health and Animal Services Department sent a community health assessment to 9,996 households in Independence to gain a greater understanding of the health of our residents, identify key public health issues, and evaluate services currently offered by the department. Respondents also identified their perceived five greatest health concerns, which were homelessness/houselessness, affordable housing, gun violence, mental health, and drug abuse. |
