Agenda Title: 23-028 - 1R. An ordinance amending Article 1 of Chapter 4 “Property Maintenance Code” pertaining to repairing dangerous buildings.


Recommendations: Staff recommends approval.


Executive Summary: This amendment to the City Code would update who can prepare the structural analysis when a dangerous building will be prepared.


Background: The City has required an engineer’s report to be prepared when a dangerous building will be repaired. This restriction has prevented architects licensed by the State of Missouri from conducting and preparing a structural analysis on how to repair dangerous structures. Architects licensed by the State of Missouri are allowed to design plans for new structures. Thus, this group should be allowed to prepare the structural analysis on how to repair a dangerous structure. Staff believes the proposed amendment will better serve our community and help in getting repairs made to dangerous buildings.


Fiscal Impact: There is no fiscal impact.
