Approval of this item will enter the City into a design contract with, and issue a purchase order in the amount of $293,200 to, Veenstra and Kimm as part of the Upper Adair Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project (No. 302201). In 2022,Staff issued a request for proposal (RFP #22108) for this work. Veenstra and Kimm are being recommended based on their project understanding and approach, team experience, staff availability, and resources. This project will mitigate sewer overflow in the Adair Creek watershed. |

The north tributary of the Adair Creek watershed has a long history of sanitary sewer capacity issues, and the City has experienced sanitary sewer overflows (SSO's) during wet weather periods in this area for decades.
Based on historical data and modeling information provided within the latest version of the City's Sanitary Sewer Master Plan, a reroute of an existing 8" sanitary sewer main crossing underneath I-70, just west of Noland road, would help alleviate some of the bottleneck conditions experienced on the north side of I-70, where the majority of the SSOs have occurred.
Engineering design, modeling, and surveying services in this area of the Adair Creek watershed would improve our understanding of the issues we are experiencing at this location, the potential causes behind the SSOs, and ultimately guide us towards making the right improvements to increase the capacity of the sanitary sewer system in this area, reducing the risk of sewage backups and manhole surcharges. |

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City is $322,520. Funding for the Upper Adair Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project (no. 302201) is included in the FY 22 adopted budget, page number 187, account number 7030-5406.
