Previously, the City Council changed their rules of procedure to require the Council to meet in the City Council Chambers in the City Council Independence City Hall for Regular Council Meetings at 6:00 p.m., on the first and third Monday of each month, unless otherwise specified at least two (2) weeks in advance, or in the event the Regular Council Meeting falls on the first Monday immediately preceding the first Tuesday in which a federal, state or local election is to be held. In such an event, the Regular Council Meeting shall be held on the first Wednesday immediately following the election day.

Approval of this resolution would change the Rules of Procedure to clarify that Regular Meetings of the City Council will only be moved when proceeding a local election for the office of Independence Mayor or City Council is to be held (to include primary, regular, and special elections for said offices).
