Change order #1 to purchase order #23000081 in the amount of $203,245.49 was issued to Mississippi Lime for additional Rotary Kiln Lime for use in the Courtney Bend Water Plant for the Water Department. New revised amount of PO is $1,852,405.49.

Staff is providing notification to the City Council of these purchases.

On July 13, 2022, purchase order #23000081 for $1,649,160.00 was issued to Mississippi Lime for Rotary Kiln Lime. On April 24, 2023, change order #1 for an additional $203,245.49 of Rotary Kiln Lime was needed to be issued and released to the supplier in order to maintain operations at the Courtney Bend Water Treatment plant without interruption. Rotary kiln lime is used to soften water. Hard water requires more soap and synthetic detergents for home laundry and washing, and it contributes to scaling in pipes, appliances, and industrial equipment. This is an annual blanket purchase order for that chemical that is used in the operation of the plant.

The expenditure is done through a contract that was approved by Council, March, 2021.

The fiscal impact to the City is $1,852,405.49. Funding was included in the fiscal year 2022/23 adopted budget, page 212, project string account number E (154160-N--) Chemical Inventory, account string E (4830-5314) Operating Supplies.
