Asphalt repairs are a result of damage to streets and roadways resulting from the replacement of failing storm conduit and other system restorations. The Municipal Services Department/Stormwater Division contracts out the asphalt repair work.
Blanket purchase order #23000230 was issued to Davenport for the initial needs for the Stormwater Division of the Municipal Services Department at the beginning of the fiscal year on August 08, 2022, for $40,000.00. Since that time additional repairs have resulted in a change order in May for $25,000.00 to cover invoices. The division has required more repair work for Davenport due to the unpredictability of the number of storm water collections system repairs. This change order for $65,000.00 is requested to budget for repairs for the remaining of the current fiscal year.
Davenport was awarded a contract for this service in June 2021.
Approval of this item shall authorize change orders up to an additional ten percent of the new total amount of the purchase order, provided appropriations are available.

Fiscal Impact:
The fiscal impact to the City of Independence is $65,000.00. The original amount expended at the beginning of the fiscal year was $40,000.00. Funding was included at an amount of $63,500.00 in the 2022-2023 Adopted Budget, page 172, (account number 5262-5226, Sanitary Sewer Fund) Professional Services for these repairs.
