Agenda Title:

23-043 - 1R.  An ordinance authorizing the increase of expenditures for Lifeguard Incentives at the Adventure Oasis Water Complex for $25,000.00 and making the necessary appropriations.
Recommendations:

Council approval is recommended to issue a change order to PO 23000119 to Modern Pool Management Corporation for the Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department increasing the amount of the Purchase Order from $597,552 to $610,052.
Background:

On December 02, 2019 City Council approved a contract between Modern Pool Management Corporation and the City.  The lifeguards’ salaries are included in the contract amount.  Due to staffing shortages during the 2022 summer season the waterpark had to reduce operating hours.  In efforts to attract more lifeguards and be competitive with area pools, an increase in the lifeguards’ pay was previously approved by City Council in January 2023.  This proposed change to the contract would provide incentives to lifeguards who work the entire season by reimbursing the lifeguards for the cost of their lifeguard certification.

Fiscal Impact:

The additional fiscal impact to the City is $25,000 over the remaining two years of the contract (2023 and 2024 seasons).  For the remainder of the 2023 fiscal year (April through June 2023), the Department requests an increase of $12,500 to the PO for a new total of $610,052. 

 

For FY23 the Department requests $12,500 be transferred from capital outlay funding, 7012-5406, project 121802-C, page 267 from the FY23 Adopted Budget to 6045-5226.

 

For FY24 funding the Department requests $12,500 be transferred from fund (012) balance to 6045-5226.
