City Management and CWA Leadership have met several times to develop strategies to fill personnel vacancies within the Emergency Communication Center (Dispatch).
As of May 25th, 2023, only 10 of 30 operational positions are filled and we currently have six candidates in various stages of training. As part of our efforts to attract personnel, an incentive program was developed for newly hired and experienced personnel who meet the qualifications of a Telecommunicator I or II.
Program features include:
- $10,000 payment to all qualified Telecommunicator I or II meeting certain criteria.
- As a condition of accepting the payment, employees will enter into an agreement with the City agreeing to meet certain conditions, including remaining with the City for 5 years or repay a portion of the payment.
- This program is reserved for the first ten (10) new hires for Telecommunicator I or II.
