  1. Council action is requested on the application received from AJ Mart LLC for a Retail Selling of Intoxicating Liquor of all kinds in the Original Package license for AJ Gas & Mart that will be located at 9300 E. US 24 Hwy.

Recommendations:

This application meets the requirements of the City’s Alcoholic Beverage Code. 

Executive Summary:

The applicant is requesting City Council approval for Retail Selling of Intoxicating Liquor of all kinds in the Original Package Monday through Sunday 6:00 am to 12:00 am midnight.  The applicant has also requested a Sunday Sales License.  This license will be issued administratively should the City Council approve this license. The applicant has indicated that this location will have alcohol sales that meet the City’s Alcoholic Beverage Code.

Types of Alcohol to be sold/served: Various types of intoxicating liquor and beer by the package.

History of any liquor license at this location; if a new building, provide a brief update on the construction:  This location has been operated as a convenience store for the last several years and owned by two previous companies before AJ Mart LLC purchased in 2018 and has been operating as a convenience store since.  AJ Mart LLC is in the process of a complete renovation of the store and is now asking for a liquor license.

There are no active liquor licenses within 1000 feet of this location.

Location proximity to school, church, or residential zoning: According to the City’s mapping system there are no schools or churches within 300 feet of this establishment.  There is residential property located within 300 feet. 

Managing Officer Information and results from background check: AJ Mart LLC has indicated Pamela Mariea Aljarrah will serve as the appointed managing officer.  The background investigation conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Pamela Maria Aljarrah revealed she meets the requirements of the Alcoholic Beverages code.
