Prior to any excavation being completed, Missouri law requires that all underground utilities be located and properly marked. The City contracts with USIC Locating Services, Inc to provide these services.
Council approved award of a contract to USIC Locating Services, Inc on April 18, 2022 for the service of providing utility locates. The five year estimated total expenditure for that contract at that time was $500,000 for the Water Department. Since that time the City has experienced an increase in the number and cost of locate requests.
Based on 2023 actual costs, the Water Department anticipates spending approximately $200,000 for fiscal year 2023-2024 for the service.
Approval of this item authorizes change orders up to ten (10) percent of the authorized amount, providing appropriations are available.
